I took Grandson out to breakfast this morning. Village Inn has a child's breakfast of one egg, one sausage, one pancake and a bowl of fruit. The menu comes with two crayons, Forest Green and Deep Sea Blue. While you're waiting for your food, you can color the picture of teddy bears on the back of the menu.

Grandson isn't very good at staying in the lines. I showed him how to maneuver the crayon, but he didn't seem to care whether he stayed in the lines or not. He's only three, and still has a lot to learn about rules and what colors things are supposed to be. He also poured the packet of honey all over his egg, fruit and sausage, instead of just on the pancake, as if it's perfectly okay to eat honey drizzled on sausage.

The table counter looked like it was straight out of 1955, that blue the color of swimming pool water, with that goofy design of silly boomerangs drawn hither and yon, and the back of the seat was also of a 1955 graphic that was so After the War but Before the Hippies. That was the year my grandmother took me out for breakfast, and I had the same design of honey drips and egg yolk on my shirt. That was when I didn't care whether I stayed in the lines or not.
