Well last Thursday, while Mom was here, I took that first step.

The one famed in song and story. I went for help. I started with Weight Watchers.

I went for my second meeting tonight - after the last week of Christmas Dinner and really not having done anything. The only thing really being that we hardly ate out anywhere. But still with Christmas Dinner, and all the gluttony that goes with it I was fully prepared to have gained.

My Starting weight was 511.2

As of 5:30 pm EDT 12-27-07 I am now at 510.00

I am actually very excited about this and reading through the material it looks like one of the only programs I have ever seen that I feel like I can do because I get to eat. It just forces me to think differently about WHAT I eat.

I know I have whined about this for a long time. And it has been a driving negative factor for me for even longer. Something that Some who have known me longer know more so. To see even this little bit of improvement so soon I am just floored.

My New Years Resolution is that "I'm Worth It" not just in weight loss but in life. I am trying very hard to make the changes finally that I have whined and put off for far to long. And tell myself that I'm Worth It for me. In all things.

My 1st Target loss is 51.1 lbs. I would like to reach that goal but sometime around May or June. But if I don't then so be it, any loss is improvement. My Lifetime Goal is to loose approx 200-250 lbs. And I would like to see the 1st 100 gone by this time next year.

I Don't know if I will keep up posting this on here or not but Right now it seems like it will be an added drive for me to work hard at this and to hold myself accountable to me and not let me weasel out of it.

So.... here goes everything!

I'm behind a week. I have to admit, my life is getting a little out of balance. 2 weeks ago, my challenge was to get adequate sleep. This has not been happening lately. I'm in the home stretch now to summer holidays, so I'm sure things will settle down in the near future, but right now, I'm stretched quite thin. (no pun intended lol!) I'm VERY pleased with my progress. 46 pounds lost in total (since my highest). I have most definately made many positive changes that are becoming more habit than work now. But even when things get hectic, I need to remember that my health is a priority. This week's challenge: I want to remember why I'm doing this. To improve my health, so that I can live life to the fullest. So that I can be the best I possibly can be for the wonderful family God's blessed me with. (Thus the picture I chose :o) So that I can enjoy life instead of dreading it. And I am starting to do that. I truly am. Despite the fact I want nothing more than to be asleep in bed right now, I am forcing myself to come good on the committment I made to give a weekly update (even though I missed last week...sorry!) If I start to slack on this committment, then I know I wil likely start to slack in my motivation to keep plugging away. So thank you, again and again, for helping me keep going strong. Though thick and thin (these puns are killing me LOL) I'm not giving up! :o)

This week was supposed to be the last week of my Get Fit program at work. I woke up Monday morning not feeling well, but was hoping it was a cold that would pass. It was not - it was the flu. And it knocked me on my ass for the entire week, and I missed all 3 final workouts. I am supremely bummed out and disappointed, but there was nothing I could do.

I live with a roommate and didn't want to infect her, so this was my routine (and the only exercise I got for 5 days):

- Take my portable basket of gear (heating pad, thermometer, tissues, water, meds, etc.) downstairs with my pillow.
- Get comfy on the couch with my obnoxious orange quilt.
-Channel surf or nap until about 7:30 when she gets home
- Bring everything back upstairs and quarantine myself until morning.

My guess is that I lost weight this week simply due to being sick, but I'll know when I weigh in tomorrow.
